Activity in 2019

Army Cadets

On Monday 11th November 2019 four of our members visited the Army Cadets in Upper Parkstone to tell them about amateur radio.  We split the cadets into two groups.  One group started with construction and other practical things including looking inside a modern amateur transceiver.  The second group were shown a RSGB video to provide them with an introduction to the various facets of the hobby, before moving on to a short presentation covering the electromagnetic spectrum, propagation, Q Codes etc.  The cadets seemed most interested as we understand radio communication is going to feature in their programme of activities in the future.

We ran Jamboree on the Air (JOTA) for the Scouts on Saturday 19th October 2019.  We operated from St Aldhelm’s and Broadstone Scout Groups.
