Members of Poole Radio Society are interested in just about every aspect of the hobby of amateur radio and operate on most amateur bands from Top Band (160m) to 3cm in the microwaves. In addition to telephony (voice) contacts, members use CW (Morse Code), Slow and Fast Scan Television, Digital Voice and various data modes including PSK31/63, RTTY and FT8/FT4.
Several members are interested in home construction, and lower power operation (QRP). We use many types of antennas – one of our members even uses a kite! Others make contacts through satellites. We are also keen to encourage newcomers of all ages to join us in a fascinating and enjoyable hobby.
We offer training courses to help you obtain your amateur radio licence, starting with the Foundation Licence and working up through the Intermediate Licence to the Full (Advanced) Licence.
Weekly meetings resumed on Thursday 22nd July.
If you are attending, please follow all government guidelines and sign the meetings register by the door. Please give your contact details so we can update membership details, and - special request - whether you have had COVID vaccinations. Please continue to use hand sanitation and normal hygiene precautions. Tea and coffee will be available but probably no biscuits.
